Launch of the Carnegie Hall Lullaby Project in Geelong - 9:30-10:00

Enjoy a gentle concert consisting of personal lullabies written by expectant and new parents in Geelong with members from the Geelong Symphony Orchestra and participating families. The lullabies have been written in collaboration with Scully’s Singing Stories (www.scullyssingingstories.com), a Geelong-based Carnegie Hall Lullaby Project partner (carnegiehall.org). The aim of the Lullaby Project is to support maternal health, strengthen the bond between parent and child, and aid child development. Members of the Geelong Symphony Orchestra will also perform traditional lullabies from around the world. This event is ideal for families with young children.

Come to the Dedicated Children’s and Youth Floor of the Geelong Library & Heritage Centre and meet Alison Lester, one of Australia’s greatest children’s author/illustrators. Alison has enjoyed a successful career spanning four decades and has created more than 40 books including family favourites such as Magic Beach, Noni The Pony, Are We There Yet?, and Kissed By The Moon. Alison is excited to be visiting Geelong for the first time in 7 years for a special storytime where she will launch her latest book The Painted Poniesand provide pony-themed art and craft activities. Alison will be available for book signings and a pop-up bookshop will allow Geelong residents the first chance to purchase The Painted Ponies. The Geelong-based musical collaborator Michelle Scully will join Alison to lead families through a magical musical journey of Alison’s books in a family friendly environment.

The Victorian Orff Schulwerk Association is part of a world wide movement of music educators. VOSA is based in Victoria, Australia and was formed in 1977. It currently has a membership of approximately 350. VOSA is linked to ANCOS, the Australian National body representing Orff-Schulwerk.
